SECURITY CLERK

In order to qualify, you must meet the general experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-0086,Security Clerical and Assistance Series General
Experience:
One year of general experience is required for GS-0086-04 level positions. Examples of general experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates my ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. NOTE:

Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE:

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. Knowledge of procedures, forms, and information required to verify against authorization documents, issue badges, passes, vehicle permits, or other forms of authorization. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to recognize, locate, and insert data/information; support office and security operations; and produce a variety of documents and reports. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing projects. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
